VIMFF FINALE
When this evening rolls around we will have summitted the 15th Annual VIMFF!
Join us for the following presentations and films that wrap up the festival:
As one of a handful of motivated young alpine climbers in North America, Jason Kruk has made adventure climbing his priority, attempting bold new routes on legendary peaks like Cerro Torre and the North Twin. Always in the funniest style possible, whether light, fast, or free. It's simply a new way of looking at these historic faces.
Hayden Kennedy: if You’re Going to be Dumb, you Better be Tough
The struggle of a hard redpoint and the mental challenge of a scary alpine climb gives Hayden a grasp of what he wants to become as a climber. Come hear him share his stories with you.
Driven is a story of the motivation and journey it takes not only to fulfil your goals but the process of getting there. It is the pure adventure, not just the goal at the summit.
The Declaration of Immortality
In his new film Marcin Koszałka returns to a forgotten genre, namely a mountain film. The protagonist of his story is Piotr “Mad” Korczak. The director focuses on the decline of the career of the great master, provoking his reflection on his future life, when he will no longer be able to climb mountains. It’s a moving story about the inability to come to terms with old age and the desire of immortality.
In the spring of 2010 four climbers sailed around the cold waters of the North Atlantic in search of big walls on the west coast of Greenland in the 30-foot boat ‘Dodo's Delight’.
AliasCinema brings in a little summer granite flavour with a look at one of Canada's top climbers, Sonnie Trotter.
Arnaud Petit and Stephanie Bodet attempt to free climb a line they originally bolted thirteen years earlier on the Grand Capucin, a magnificent granite pillar perched at 3800 meters in the heart of the Mont Blanc range.
The festival opens tonight and from the bottoms of our tired feet all the way up to our blown minds -seriously these films are mind blowing!- we hope you will join us all the way through to the finale of the 15th annual Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival!
