15th Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival Launches Tomorrow Friday Feb 10, 7:30 pm

It’s almost here! The Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) opens tomorrow Friday, February 10th with a jam packed program of speakers and films. The evening show includes a presentation by legendary US climber and explorer John Harlin III: Swiss Borders Adventures. In 2010 John Harlin III circumnavigated the whole length of the Swiss borders, a 1,200-mile odyssey with over a million vertical feet of climbing and descending.
Three world and Vancouver film premieres will be feature on the VIMFF Opening Night:
THE DENALI EXPERIMENT (World Premiere! USA, 2011, 15 min, directed by CAmp 4 Collective): Free-ride skier Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and big mountain snowboarder Lucas Debari step out of their elements and make an attempt to climb, ski and snowboard Denali.
MOONFLOWER (North American Premiere, UK, 2011, directed by Alastair Lee): Join top British alpinists Jon Bracey and Matt Helliker as they honor their late friend Jules Cartwright by following his original vision of making a stunning and formidable new line on Mt Hunter's incredible north buttress; The Moonflower.
LINEA CONTINUA (Vancouver Premiere, Italy, 2010, 17 min, directed by Hervé Barmasse, Giacomo Berthet and Damiano Levati): Four generations, one sole purpose: going to the mountains in search of adventure, again and again! This is the Barmasse family of Valtournenche: mountaineers, alpinists, explorers and mountain guides on Matterhorn.
Friday night will also include the VIMFF 2012 Photo Competition Awards and Exhibition Opening.
Tickets to the VIMFF can be purchased on-line at www.vimff.org, at the Centennial Theatre, 2300 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver. Advanced individual tickets are $18, with packages of 2, 3 and 5 tickets available
