VIMFF TIGER NIGHT FEB 14th

Join us tonight at 7:30pm at the Pacific Cinematheque for our VIMFF TIGER NIGHT, featuring John Vaillant's live presentation and two films, CONFLICT TIGER (by Sasha Snow) and BROKEN TAIL (by John Murray).

John Vaillant's 'The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival' was inspired by Sasha Snow's internationally acclaimed documentary, 'Conflict Tiger'.  Vaillant's talk will cover his first encounter with Snow's film, how a cold call turned into a warm friendship and a surprising collaboration, and what tigers mean in a world increasingly threatened by habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade.

CONFLICT TIGER transports us to the forests of the Russian Far East where an inexperienced and foolhardy poacher triggers an infamous series of tiger attacks on people. The authorities call upon the services of Yuri Trush, a specialist in tracking and eliminating tigers that have lost their fear of man. The film takes Yuri’s most notorious pursuit of a ‘man-eating’ tiger as the basis for a documentary thriller.  The film combines dramatic reconstruction with extraordinary archive footage shot by Yuri himself as events unfolded.

BROKEN TAIL follows John Murray, one of the world’s leading tiger cameramen as he travels through India on a personal pilgrimage, piecing together the extraordinary journey of Broken Tail - one of the planet's most famous wild tigers.
