Four generations, one sole purpose: going to the mountains in search of adventure, again and again! This is the Barmasse family of Valtournenche: mountaineers, alpinists, explorers and mountain guides on Matterhorn.

Four generations, one sole purpose: going to the mountains in search of adventure, again and again! This is the Barmasse family of Valtournenche: mountaineers, alpinists, explorers and mountain guides on Matterhorn. It was on this very “Gran Becca”, as the Val D’Aostans call Cervino, that on the 17th of March, 2010 spanning 2 generations, father and son tied in together. Their aim was to climb that Couloir, which, from Enjambée, plunges for 1200 meters towards the base of the South Face of Matterhorn. An old project, attempted 24 years prior by Marco’s father, taken up on this day by Marco and his son, Hervé. A difficult route, defined by some of the greatest alpinists of the 1980s as “one of the last logical projects in the Alps,” it still remained incomplete in 2010.

Director bios:

Hervé Barmasse was born in Aosta in 1977. He is a mountain climber, member of the The North Face Global Team, mountain guide, ski and snowboard instructor as well as federal ski coach. He has collaborated with the top mountain magazines, conducted the TV show Qui Montagne on the Valle d’Aosta Regional TV channel and has won numerous awards for his mountaineering feats.

Giacomo Berthet was born in Aosta in 1978, he graduated at DAMS in Torino. He began his career as a film producer in 2003 collaborating with the main Italian TV channels. In 2007 he made Io ci credo, presented by Sport Movies & TV from Milan. His love for the mountains and telling tales about them brought him in contact with the Barmasse family. Thanks to this meeting, Linea Continua (2010) was born.

Damiano Levati is a young professional photographer. He has always held photography and the mountains very dear to this heart. After completing his university studies, he decided to make these two passions his profession, unveiling that unique relationship between man and nature through his photographs. Recently he has approached the audiovisual world.
