Parallels is a short film that explores the parallel experiences of the moments created while playing in the mountains. Produced by Dendrite Studios in April of 2011 and created in its entirety in just 7 days, this film was shot for the Intersection competition at the Telus ski and snowboard festival in Whistler, BC. 

Long synopsis:

Parallels is a short film that explores the parallel experiences of the moments created while playing in the mountains.  Whether skiing or snowboarding, touring, sledding, or using the lifts, riding the park or backcountry, we all play in snow for the same reasons.  As one looks into the details of such experiences, it becomes evident that these are often similar and ultimately they all have the same goal - to have fun in the mountains

Director bios:

Nicolas Teichrob

Nicolas currently resides on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, although he spends his time chasing waves, powder, and trails around the world.  As an artist Nic draws his inspiration from the natural world and the beautiful moments in time that are everywhere.  His images have been published in many international ski, bike, and surf  magazines, displaying his ability to create unique imagery in various environments.  Nicolas' favourite works include Parallels, Zero Degrees, and Stand - an upcoming SUP film in the Great Bear Rainforest. 

Athan Merrick

Athan is a graduate from the UBC Film Production Program and specializes in cinematography.  A passionate skier and former competitor, his abilities on snow allow him to follow athletes to places not many cinematographers will go, delivering unique and powerful imagery.  Athan also works in the film industry on Hollywood films and television shows.  Athan is currently working as a cinematographer for Teton Gravity Research and is based out of Whistler and Vancouver, BC.
