Kristie Elliot is a trail runner. This is a short film about her love for the trails in British Columbia. She is currently testing her limits, training for the Leadville 100 Mile Trail Run in Colorado
Ultra Runners are a unique breed. Running four marathons non-stop, back to back is not a challenge for the faint of heart, some would call it lunacy.
Kristie Elliot is a trail runner from Squamish, British Columbia, and she runs ultra marathons. Her love for the trails is what drives her, not the finish line. For Kristie, it's about being out there, alone with the forest, and the mountains, getting lost in the rhythm of her footsteps. Feeling the zen of becoming one with the trail.
The film was shot on location with a skeleton crew. Most shooting sessions were just camera and runner. We explored the trails Kristie runs on a daily basis to find locations that felt natural to her and her running style. We found the result to be an honest expression if how it feels to love life the trail.
Andrew Doran
Andrew Doran is a commercial stills photographer. Set Free is an exploration in to the world of motion with many experimental shots, and cobbled together equipment. The film was produced with no agenda, just the goal to tell a trail running story. We love how this freedom allowed the short to evolve on its own, to tell a real, honest little story.
