A story of free climbing and base jumping four classic desert towers in Moab, Utah: Ancient Art, Hindu Tower, Sister Superior and King of Pain.
Steph Davis: "I chose four very different sandstone spires, and looked for the most beautiful way to climb each one, and the safest and best way to jump it. Each tower is unique, and each one offered a different adventure. I teamed up with my partner Mario Richard, a highly experienced base jumper, on three of the four towers. The last one I climbed and jumped alone as a free solo. For me, the experience of base climbing the desert towers was about aesthetics and practicality, and about taking the time to understand each spire as a unique individual--to find the most beautiful way to climb it, and the safest and best way to jump it." Steph Davis Bio
"I’m Steph Davis. I mostly live in Moab in a 1968 doublewide just off Main Street, which I have been refurbishing from top to bottom for the last 9 years, with a recent obsession emphasis on tiling. The rest of the time I live in the back of my truck or in a tent.My main passions are climbing, vegan cooking, wingsuit flying, base jumping, running, yoga, writing and skate skiing. I’m also a big fan of tromping around the mountains, fixing things and gardening.Above all, I love dogs, cats and all living creatures! However, I have a policy of extreme respect for the personal space of reptiles and insects. (Like, we should regard each other with friendly feelings, but no physical contact.) What I most want from life is the ability to learn and to be free." [Steph Davis]
