Mountains in Motion: The Canadian Rockies is a short documenting the life of the alpine landscape through time-lapse photography. In an effort to highlight the wildness of these mountain places and how they have inspired explorers of the past, present and future, sequences were from exposed summits; by glacial lakes; and under aurora-filled skies.
Director, Doug Urquhart
Doug Urquhart can often be found constructing three dimensional pixels at his urban studio in Atlanta or escaping the city lights in the Appalachian mountains. Completely dedicated to his passion for cinematography & motion graphics over the past decade, Doug enjoys experimenting with the technical aspects of visual media. In 2007, Doug co-founded The UpThink Lab, a full-service production studio in Atlanta with longtime friend, Erik Huber. As a tightly knit team, Doug and Erik execute projects on a daily basis for multiple advertising agencies. Doug’s passion for time-lapse offers the opportunity to explore the world and all of the creative technical aspects of advancing the art form.
Director, Paul Zizka
Specializing in photographing in difficult conditions and hard-to-reach places, Paul has a passion for shooting alpine sports and backcountry experiences, capturing the spirit of adventurers and finding unusual angles of common mountain subjects. Paul’s award-winning photos have been featured in a variety of publications, including IMPACT, Islands, Skiing.com, Highline, PhotoLife, Fodors.com and explore magazine. His commercial clients, such as Banff Lake Louise Tourism and Parks Canada, depend on his photography to bring Banff National Park to life in their marketing avenues.
