This past summer, fifty of BCs most celebrated artists took a journey up the coast, into the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. Five hundred kilometers north of Vancouver is a wild coastline: home to the Spirit Bear and whales, wolf packs and grizzlies, First Nations and coastal communities. With the looming threat of a proposed oil pipeline and hundreds of oil tankers a year, it is a magical place on edge. This film, REFLECTIONS: ART FOR AN OIL FREE COAST, shares the story of a Raincoast Conservation Foundation expedition into a stunning and remote landscape, weaving together the artists’ work and their emotional response to a people and a region at risk.
Director, Cameron Dennison
Cameron has taken his turn both in front of and behind the camera for the past five years. His acting has taken him across the country from Toronto to Tofino, where he currently resides. With a background in acting and stand-up comedy Cameron is able to comfortably embody all aspects of a production house. His most recent film, Reflections: Art for an oil-free coast, is a testament to this. He took part in shooting, editing as well as produced the 22-minute documentary in six months, right in time for its premier at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Reflections, showcases the expedition of fifty artists in the Great Bear Rainforest. When not behind a camera, Cameron can be found surfing, hiking, or doing yoga on the beautiful West Coast of Vancouver Island. It’s not uncommon to find him uttering the sentence, “I’m living my dream.” You can connect with Cameron on Facebook at Cameron Dennison or StrongHeart Productions or by visiting his website: www.strongheartproductions.com
