One of the world’s strongest female rock climbers Nina Caprez comes to VIMFF to tell about her different lifestyle as a pro climber and about the way she got there. She will share her incredible travels all over the world along with the unique experiences she made on her different multipitch ascents. Nina will be on hand to present the Canadian premiere of Silbergeier (directed by Vladimir Cellier), her account of climbing one of Switzerland’s toughest big-wall routes in challenging conditions. Writing on her Arc’teryx bio, Caprez says that: “For me, this is my big dream and the perfect climb… one of the most beautiful highlights of my little climbing career…”
Nina Caprez
Living a life of adventure, Nina Caprez is one of the most inspiring professional climbers out there. Born in the Praettigau Valley of Switzerland, Nina started alpine climbing at a young age and was later introduced to sport climbing. Immediately obsessed, she continued to explore the different disciplines of climbing, travelling extensively and representing her country at World Cup lead, and bouldering competitions.
Though she excels at all types of climbing, Nina’s talent really shows when she’s pulling the crux move of a 5.14- pitch… 300m up a wall. Soon after participating in the 2009 Millau Petzl Roc Trip, Nina started to explore the world of long hard multipitch climbing. Since then she has climbed Carnet d’adresse, a 250m 8b+ (5.14a), Silbergeier (8b+), and many more super hard multipitch climbs.
Despite her ability to climb 8 pitches of 5.13 in a row, it is Nina’s smile and contagious positive attitude that is what’s most inspiring about her. Driven purely by passion and having fun, Nina demonstrates that enjoying what you are doing is the key to success. [bio written by Ayesha Khan]
